The first year philosophers were privileged to have a great opportunity to visit and serve in Divyarakshalayam during their Christmas holydays. We reached there for an exposure program from 27th Dec. to 1st of Jan. There are 280 inmates. The institute is run by Mr. Tomy Odackal, brother of Fr. Benny Odackal CSsR. There we had an opportunity to help out in digging the fish pond and preparing the vegetable garden. We cooked the food, helped in serving the food and in other ministries. We visited the Mother and Child Foundation for orphans and Pratheeksha Bhavan, a de-addiction centre. It was an eye opener to all of us. These 5 days of experience reminded us of our responsibility towards the unwanted and the neglected around us. It was a first time experience for most of us.
